Answering your question posed via Note here on your post--I did receive it via email this morning timestamped 2:03 a.m. (I'm in the US Northeast)

And no. I won't be emailing them dolts you thoroughly schooled already. But heck. I never mind you asking since I got free will to decline...

Thanks. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained", as my dear old Dad -- Gawd rest his soul -- used to say. 🙂

If I were the War Councillor for the Epic Battle Against the ClusterFuck--as you often call it--I'd switch tactics immediately because general society doesn't really care much about sciency things. It follows designated henchwolves spouting the designated message.

In my view a strategy with any hope of fast success would be to "unspecial" the dear little fairy synth children of all ages and turn them into boring same-old same-old that ye shall always have with you.

I know I've previously sent you links to the book reviews and discussions of titles like "Holy Anorexia" (resending you Hilary Mantel's essay in the London Review of Books: https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v26/n05/hilary-mantel/some-girls-want-out ).

These people need to be laughed at (though I know it can be challenging when thinking of mutilated kids). "Oh honey. Two hundred years ago you'd've been licking spiders from the walls of your holy bedchamber. You'd rather chop off your bits? Enjoy."

Everyone is making money here and your well-researched passionately-argued responses to their stupidity don't move them none.

Ridicule makes posturing shrink back to its proper place.

And sadly, as with every other craze that ever took hold everywhere in Western society these, say, 1000 years, innocents get swept up and suffer. Life is grimly cruel that way.

But every time I see someone like Chloe Cole, I continue to smell something fishy there. Professional little no-longer-fairy-synth-child.

What I'd say these days to all of 'em? "Kid, you and your parents sure fucked up. Good luck to you. And no, insurance companies shouldn't be made to pay for your reconstructions. They shouldn't pay for any of this--going, coming, comin' 'round again."

You may disagree with some or all of this...

"clusterfuck, noun: an incestuous swarm of pea-brained gnats" ... perfectly descriptive and durable term ... 😉🙂

But some good points SCA. Reminds me of John D. MacDonald"s, "grim meathook realities" of life.

Eliza Mondegreen had linked to that LRB article recently in drawing a parallel between anorexia nervosa and gender dysphoria. I'd read a bit more and linked and quoted it on Hippiesq's Substack.

But I think the science is what is cutting the legs out from under various gender ideologues. Slow but sure, although some on "our side" are still unclear on a concept or two ... 😉🙂

Truly I understand the value of rigorous scientific inquiry.

But foundational to surviving life on earth for at least a reasonable span is basic common sense.

Eliza? She's building a career off this too. Heck. After grad school, what'cha gonna do?

And when I read the news coming out of the reverse-course medical establishment in various European countries that "we're halting the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in children *except for research trials*..."

So a few unfortunate kids will continue to be sacrificed to the glorious driving impulse of science--boys who like to poke things with sticks.

Sadly, "common sense" is not all that common. See Twain's corn pone opinions:

https://www.paulgraham.com/cornpone.html

Many people, many Substackers seem to be in the same boat as Eliza. Wonder what they will do when -- or if -- the transgender issue is resolved. Something like what Mermaids did? Segue from gay activism to trans activism?

Kind of the nature of the beast. Nice to play the white knight ridding the land of black knights, but when black knights are, as a result, thin on the ground it then becomes necessary to engage in a bit of pilferage and highway robbery to make ends meet. Reminds me of a Upton Sinclair quip:

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/21810-it-is-difficult-to-get-a-man-to-understand-something

SCA: "... science--boys who like to poke things with sticks."

🙂 Cut to the quick ... 😉🙂 Reminds me of a scene from Mars Attacks where the Martians swapped the heads and bodies of a yappy mutt and a character played by Sara Jessica Parker. "We have the technology to do X so let's do X."

Do you remember when all our physical and emotional ills were purportedly caused by yeast overgrowth? Suddenly everyone was afflicted by candida. There was an astrologer in NY who instantly became a specialist in diagnosing candida by using a rock he suspended in front of you.

This latest is pretty much that.

I just don't know where we're gonna get safe water from. All these extra hormones being peed out and flushed away, they gotta end up somewhere. Those specially glowing salmon enhanced by Fukushima water are gonna be the least of our problems.
